Election Information
2018 Regular Municipal Election
The Town of Firestone holds a regular municipal election the first Tuesday of April every even-numbered year. The Mayor, who serves a two-year term, is up for election at every regular municipal election. Board of Trustees members serve four-year staggered terms; at every regular election three of the six Trustee seats are up for election.

The Town of Firestone will conduct its Regular Municipal Election on Tuesday, April 3, 2018. Registered voters in Firestone will be electing a Mayor and three (3) Trustees. This will be a mail-in ballot ONLY election. Registered voters will receive their ballots by mail with detailed instructions and mail-in deadlines. Town Hall will be open from 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. on April 3, 2017 for mail-in ballot drop-off, but it will not be a voting center.

2018 Candidate Information

The deadline for Nomination Petitions to be turned in was January 22, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. Shortly thereafter, the certified candidates completed a drawing to determine the order in which candidates names will be placed on the ballot along with Ballot Question 1 concerning municipal  broadband. 

***Please note – this is not a final ballot and the ballot appearance/order is subject to potential change given that deadlines have not yet passed for qualification of write-in candidates or for withdrawal .*** At this point, the candidates may appear as follows:

Running for Office in Firestone
Candidates interested in running for Mayor or a Trustee position can obtain a Nomination Petition Packet in person at Town Hall from the Town Clerk beginning Monday, December 18th during regular business hours. Please review the 2018 Election Packet prior to picking up your Nomination Petition Packet for specific deadlines and other pertinent Election information.

***Please Note: You may not begin circulation of your Nomination Petition Form until Tuesday, January 2nd, 2018 & it MUST be returned to the Town Clerk on or before 5:00 p.m. MST Monday, January 22nd, 2018. ***

Coordinated Elections
From time to time, the Town may participate in coordinated elections held by Weld County. These elections take place in November of any given year. To find out more about voting locations, important dates or to check your voter registration information for coordinated elections, contact the Weld County Clerk and Recorder.

To register to vote in this election you must:
  • Be a United States citizen.
  • Be 18 years old on or before the date of the election.

Political Sign Code
According to the Firestone Municipal Code, Section 17.31.030(N), election/campaign signs do not require a permit as long as they are located on private property and provided that:
  • The size and location of those signs do not create a hazard for automobile or pedestrian traffic or public nuisance, and
  • All such signs are removed within one week after the elections to which they relate
