Phone Scam Alert from the Firestone Police Department
The Firestone Police Department has received multiple calls from residents regarding a recent suspicious phone call. Residents have reported getting a phone call from an unknown male stating he is with the Firestone Police Department. The male caller claimed to be a police officer from Firestone and mentioned an actual officer's name. We have verified that the specific officer was not on duty and was not in a position to make the call. The caller may have specific information about you, such as:
- Name
- Home address
- Work address
- Other personal information
The male caller tried to convince individuals that they had missed court and owed money. He also attempted to persuade the residents to make a payment over the phone to resolve the issue.
Please know that the Firestone Police Department will never call and attempt to collect money over the phone. In addition, know that if the call sounds suspicious, you may choose to hang up and call the non-emergency number at 720-652-4222 to verify the information being relayed to you on the phone is accurate. The Firestone Police are currently investigating these calls in an attempt to identify the caller.
