Ribbon Cutting Celebrations!

Last week the Firestone Board of Trustees celebrated milestones of three major projects that bring lasting value to this community.  Without increasing taxes, the Board of Trustees has made critical investments in Firestone’s ability to grow, maintain our infrastructure, and has committed to ensuring amenities, such as neighborhood parks, are accessible to everyone!

Firestone Public Works Facility

In April of 2020, Firestone voters approved Ballot Issue 2A, authorizing the Town to expand the purposes of the 0.6% sales and use tax that was approved in 2017. The Town can now use that money for the operation and maintenance of the police and municipal court facility; and for the construction, operation, and maintenance of other town facilities. Because of this, the Firestone Public Works Facility received a much-needed expansion and remodel. Including connection to sanitary sewer service, a new shop area, wash-bay, ample storage for equipment and supplies, adequate office space, restrooms, and a breakroom – all without increasing the current total sales and use tax! THANK YOU to the voters who supported this initiative.

If you missed the event, stop by during the annual Clean-Up Day event and see the facility!

On September 16, 2020, the Firestone Board of Trustees broke ground on the St. Vrain Water Treatment Plant project. Last week, the Firestone Board of Trustees, town staff, and other key members of the project celebrated this project with a ribbon-cutting.

This Board has voted on and approved many key milestones for the St. Vrain Water Treatment Plant and understands that this project is not only helping assure we are on a path to water independence and helping diversify our water portfolio, but also opening the doors for growth that is crucial to continuing to add value to the community. The public will be invited to celebrate at a GRAND OPENING this summer

In 2019, the Board of Trustees identified this project as a priority and work began last summer to finish the park. Improvements added to the park include a crusher fine trail, shelters, picnic tables, fencing, pet waste stations, fitness stations, a synthetic turf playfield, and a putting green. Due to supply chain and weather delays, the bathrooms are not yet complete and the swing benches are not installed. It is anticipated that those amenities will be completed soon.
