Introduction of

New Police Commander Heidi Walts

During Wednesday night's meeting, Deputy Chief Bryce Borders introduced Commander Heidi Walts as the new Patrol Operations Commander for the Firestone Police Department. Earlier this month, Commander Walts was sworn in by Mayor Drew Peterson. She comes to the Firestone Police Department with over two decades of law enforcement experience and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice. Commander Walts' extensive criminal investigations and patrol operations knowledge, collaborative leadership style, and commitment to leading highly effective teams made her a natural fit for the Firestone Police Department.

Final Plat Approved

Following a Public Hearing, the Board of Trustees approved Resolution 23-16, the 2nd Amendment Non-Residential Final Plat for the Del Camino Central Filing 2 property. The Del Camino Central Filing 2, also known as Firestone City Centre North, is located on the north side of Firestone Boulevard, along the East I-25 Frontage Road and Arbor Street.

The final plat includes 10 commercial lots and 7 tracts on approximately 33 acres. The lots range from 0.874 acres to 10.079 acres in size. The site will include 6 points of access to existing roadways. Public improvements include the west half of Arbor Street between Firestone Blvd. and Union Street. The full section of Weld County Road (WCR) 9 ¾ adjacent to the property will be improved as well. With the approval of the final plat, the developer can move on to the final development plan process.

Agreement with Weld County & TSG Del Camino Approved

During Wednesday night’s meeting, the Board of Trustees approved two agreements to facilitate the purchasing of material from Weld County and selling that material to TSG Del Camino, LLC, the developer of Firestone City Centre North.

The first agreement authorizes the acquisition of two stockpiles of materials at the Hokestra Gravel Pit by the Town of Firestone for economic development efforts.  Weld County needs to remove the fill from its property to meet its obligations to the Central Colorado Water Conservancy District. The second agreement is for the Town of Firestone to sell this material to  TSG Del Camino, LLC.

TSG Del Camino, LLC has made it known that before development can begin on the property, they need to bring in a substantial amount of fill dirt to bring the entire property up to grade. The approval of both of these agreements will help facilitate this process and encourages development to begin as soon as possible.

Board Meeting Streaming Service Project Approved

The Board of Trustees approved an agreement with AVI-SPL Inc to install a camera system in the Board Room/Court Room that will allow for video recording and online streaming of Board of Trustee meetings. The Board of Trustees have identified this project as a priority to encourage further public engagement and accessibility to meetings. The installation will include four voice-triggered auto-switching cameras with a view of the Board of Trustees dais, the staff dais, and those speaking or presenting at the lectern or tables. With the approval of this agreement, the next steps will be to order and install the equipment, with anticipated completion in early summer
