Purchase of Traffic Signal Updates &
Installation Contract Approved

In two separate actions during Wednesday night's meeting, the Board of Trustees approved the purchase of upgrades to three traffic control signals and the installation of this equipment.

The traffic signals that will be upgraded include:

  • Jake Jabs Blvd/Arbor St and Firestone Blvd
  • Birch St and Firestone Blvd
  • Cimarron St and Firestone Blvd

The installation of this equipment will be done by Sturgeon Electric, who has performed preventive maintenance, inspections, and installation work on the Town's traffic signal equipment for over ten years.

Installation will occur between July and October and will require temporary, intermittent lane closures. Once a schedule has been finalized, it will be shared with the public.

Mosquito Management Contract Approved

During Wednesday night’s meeting, the Board approved an agreement with Vector Disease Control International, LLC (VDCI) for integrated mosquito management services for the 2024 mosquito season in six identified zones throughout Firestone. The services that VDCI will provide include surveillance traps with weekly monitoring and truck-based adulticides applied in zones that exceed thresholds based on results from the weekly monitoring.

The trapping will begin in late spring or early summer, depending on how wet the spring season is. As the timing gets finalized, the schedule and more information will be shared with the public.

Updates to CDBG Agreement with Weld County

The Board of Trustees approved an amendment to the Community Development Block Grant (CBDG) subrecipient agreement with Weld County during Wednesday night’s meeting. The updates are with regards to the CDBG-funded Minor Home Repair Program and include:
