National Parks & Recreation Month Proclamation

During the Board of Trustees meeting on Wednesday night, Trustee Linda Haney read the National Parks and Recreation Month proclamation for July. This month is dedicated to recognizing and celebrating the more than 160,000 full-time park and recreation professionals—along with hundreds of thousands of part-time and seasonal workers and volunteers—who maintain our country’s local, state, and community parks.

In addition to celebrating the staff who provide great services and support, the Town of Firestone encourages the community to take advantage of the many recreation amenities, parks, trails, and open spaces available right here in their backyard.

Model Service Plan Discussion

The Board of Trustees tabled voting on Ordinance 1045, to establish a municipal code-based model for future preparation of metro district service plans and had a discussion about elements included in the draft Model Service Plan. The Board of Trustees will discuss this item further at the August 21 Work Session.

IGA with CVPRD Approved

During Wednesday night’s meeting, the Board of Trustees approved Resolution 24-67, approving an Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) between the Town of Firestone and the Carbon Valley Parks and Recreation District (CVPRD). The agreement outlines the responsibilities of the Town and CVPRD for the use, management, maintenance, and operation of Town-owned fields and facilities. This is a 10-year IGA structured to encourage CVPRD to provide services and activate town parks and facilities, as has been done previously, with updated responsibilities, operation and rental fees, and maintenance standards.
