Multipurpose Trail Agreement

During Wednesday night's meeting, the Board of Trustees approved Resolution 25-44, an intergovernmental agreement between the Town of Firestone, the City of Longmont, the Town of Mead, and Weld County, for the design and construction of a multipurpose trail along Weld County Road (WCR) 26 and WCR 7 between Union Reservoir, Mead High School, and St. Vrain State Park.

In 2022, Firestone, Longmont, Mead, and Weld County each committed $25,000 to Weld County's Air Quality/Multimodal project application to the Denver Regional Council of Governments. The project received $900,000 in federal funding to design the multipurpose trail. Construction on the trail is anticipated to begin in early 2026.

Agreement for Police Records Assessment

During Wednesday night's meeting, the Board of Trustees approved an agreement with PRI Management Group (PRI) to conduct an operational assessment of the Police Department's Records Unit.

This operational assessment will involve a comprehensive review of current workflows and procedures, developing optimized workflows for each task, evaluating NIBRS code tables, assessing our quality control practices, and providing necessary training for Records Unit staff. A final report will be produced, outlining recommendations for improvement.

With the implementation of the department's new Records Management System (RMS) scheduled for completion by the end of this year, it is timely to perform this assessment. The recommendations provided by PRI will be shared with the new RMS vendor and incorporated into the design phase of the new system.

Volunteer Positions Open on the Parks, Trails, Recreation,
and Open Space Commission

The Board of Trustees is seeking two volunteers to serve on the Parks, Trails, Recreation, and Open Space Commission (PTROC). The Commission was established to assist the Board in evaluating current needs and issues regarding its parks, trails, open space, and recreation facilities. The Commission consists of seven Town residents appointed by the Board of Trustees to serve for two-year terms, plus two members of the Board of Trustees serving as a liaison and alternate liaison.

PTROC will now meet quarterly on the first Wednesday of each quarter at 6:00 p.m. in the Board Room/Court Room at the Firestone Police and Municipal Court Facility, 9900 Park Avenue, Firestone, CO 80504.

All volunteers must be residents of the Town, and anyone who wishes to serve on final decision-making boards cannot have a financial interest in a contract with the Town. Those interested in volunteering must complete an application online here. Applications are due by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2025.
