Water Action Plan Update Presentation

At Wednesday night’s meeting, Firestone staff and consultants presented an updated Water Action Plan to the Board of Trustees. First adopted in 2020, the Water Action Plan was created because, like many communities along the Front Range, the Town of Firestone must think strategically to ensure the demands for both raw and treated water can be met over the next 50+ years. Over the past five years, the Town has successfully implemented the 2020 Water Action Plan, diversifying our water portfolio and supporting continued community growth.

The updated Water Action Plan:

  • Evaluates water supply options and costs to meet projected needs for up to 30 years of planned growth
  • Examines the financial implications of different supply options
  • Outlines priorities for the next 5–10 years of investment in the Town’s water supply and infrastructure

While the plan considers a 30-year horizon to assess long-term feasibility and costs, immediate decisions are focused on the next 5-10 years. The document will be updated every five years to reflect changing needs and conditions.

The Board of Trustees will review the updated plan over the coming weeks and is expected to vote on adopting the 2025-2030 Water Action Plan in early October. View the presentation here.

2026 Budget Presentation: Water Fund & Stormwater Fund

The Board of Trustees began reviewing the 2026 proposed budget in a Work Session on Wednesday, September 17. During Wednesday night's meeting, the Board of Trustees reviewed the Water Fund and Stormwater Fund budgets.

Based on the Water Action Plan Update presentation, the Board must determine water project priorities.   Because of this, it is anticipated that the 2026 proposed Water Fund budget will be updated to reflect those decisions.

Once updated, the documents will be published online at www.firestoneco.gov/budget.

Upcoming Budget Review Schedule

  • Wednesday, October 8: Review of Capital Improvement Projects, Debt Service Fund, Conservation Trust Fund, Firestone Urban Renewal Authority Funds, and the Downtown Development Authority Fund.
  • Wednesday, October 22: Final review of the complete 2026 budget
  • Wednesday, November 12:  Budget Adoption in a Public Hearing

Barefoot Lakes Filing No. 7D Preliminary Plat Subdivision

After a Public Hearing, at the Board meeting on Wednesday night, the Board of Trustees approved a Preliminary Plat Subdivision for Barefoot Lakes Filing 7D, located on the northeast corner of Birch Street (WCR 11) and Ronald Reagan Blvd. This filing includes 111 lots, consisting of 51 single-family detached residential lots, 60 single-family attached residential lots for townhomes.

Parks and open spaces are generally located throughout the site, and a trail network will provide access from all areas of the site to the park areas, the pedestrian underpass to cross under Ronald Reagan Blvd. into Barefoot Lakes Filing 6, and ultimately the trail system around the lakes.

With this preliminary plat approval, the developer can proceed to the final plat process for the property.

P.U.D. Amendment Approved for Porsche Dealership

After a Public Hearing, the Board of Trustees approved Ordinance 1066, approving the Del Camino Junction Business Park Planned Unit Development Amendment application for a Porsche Dealership. The property is located on the southeast corner of the intersection of County Road 24 ½ (Arbor Street) and the I-25 East Frontage Road, in the Del Camino Junction Business Park.

The standards of the Original PUD of the Del Camino Junction Business Park remain. The Amendment allows new standards to accommodate the distinctiveness of the development while maintaining the high-quality construction and uses associated with the area.

The next steps for this project will be a Minor Plat Amendment, followed by a Final Development Plan.
