Potable Water Master Plan Adopted
During Wednesday night’s meeting, the Board of Trustees approved the Potable Water Master Plan. In July 2024, the Town of Firestone hired Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. (Kimley-Horn) to develop the Town’s Potable Water Master Plan.
In cooperation with Town staff, Kimley-Horn examined the existing system to identify deficiencies; forecasted future growth within the Growth Management Area through 2035 and buildout; evaluated locations for water system components; recommended additional storage and transmission improvements; and integrated pressure settings from the proposed Master Meter Flow Control Project into the hydraulic model.
Based on these analyses, Kimley-Horn pinpointed near- and long-term system upgrades, including storage tanks, master meter connections, and waterline loops (to improve system efficiency), and created a phased implementation plan with triggers for priority upgrades, cost estimates, and potential funding sources.
The adopted Master Plan assesses hydraulic distribution and treatment capacities, highlights system deficiencies, prioritizes capital needs, and aligns with the Town’s Design Standards and Construction Specifications.
