Elections
16-
Elections
A recall election is a citizen-initiated measure. Recall allows citizens to seek the possible removal of a public official before their term ends. If enough signatures are collected on a petition within a set timeframe, a recall election is scheduled.
-
Elections
Firestone voters will decide by majority whether incumbent Trustees facing recall should be removed. Candidates to replace recalled officers are nominated by petition and listed on the recall ballot for an at-large vote. The number of recall vacancies will determine the number of candidates elected.
To be eligible to run, you must be:
- Must be a registered voter by the time of the candidate’s nomination.
- Must be at least 18 years of age by the date of the election.
- Must be a primary resident of the Town of Firestone for a period of at least 12 consecutive months immediately preceding the election.
- Must maintain residency throughout the remaining term in office.
- May not be a candidate for more than one office at the same election or hold two municipal offices.
Candidate petition packets can be picked up at the Town Clerk’s office on January 22, 2026. Petitions are due no later than 5:00 pm on February 11, 2026.
-

Elections
Yes. An officer may resign.
- If a Trustee facing recall resigns before the Board sets an election date, the recall ends. The vacancy(ies) caused by the resignation(s) shall be filled as provided by state law- either by Board of Trustees appointment or special election.
- Should a resignation take place after the Board of Trustees has established the election date, the nominated successor candidates will be included on the ballot to fill the vacancy or vacancies during the scheduled recall election.
- If resignations occur after ballots are prepared or when removing recall questions is impractical, votes on those questions will not be counted.
-
Elections
The ballot language includes the following for each incumbent officer subject to recall:
- Petitioner’s general statement of grounds, or reasons, for recall as it appeared on the recall petition.
- Incumbent Trustee’s Statement or justification to retain the office.
- Recall question.
After the recall question(s) for each officer:
- Successor candidates nominated for election at large.
-

If you were not selected in the random sample, or if your household was selected, and there is there another member of your household that wants to participate, you are encouraged to take the open participation survey online.
-
Community Survey
This is so that we can choose in an unbiased way a person within each household to complete the survey. While it may seem a bit strange, using the “birthday method” is a simple way to select an adult from within each household without permitting bias in our results. This way, we ensure the results are representative of our community as a whole.
-
Community Survey
Yes. The Town of Firestone Community Survey is a scientific survey conducted by Polco and the National Research Center (NRC). NRC has over 20 years of conducting survey research for local governments. The survey has a statistically valid margin of error of +/- 3%. With this margin of error, you may conclude that when 60% of survey respondents report that a particular service is “excellent” or “good” somewhere between 57% and 63% of all Firestone residents are likely to feel the same way.
-
Community Survey
This is a great opportunity for you to get involved in shaping Firestone's future. The survey results will be a powerful tool to help guide policy direction for the Firestone Board of Trustees and Town Staff and help prioritize projects within the Town.
Information obtained through the survey will assist with:
- Informing budget, land use, and strategic planning decisions
- Measuring government performance
- Assessing support for local policies
- Monitoring trends in resident opinion
- Benchmarking service ratings
- Communicating with residents
-
Community Survey
By entering your email address and ZIP code, you can create an account and find out when we post a new question or survey on Polco. The Town plans to use the Polco platform to ask follow-up questions to the community survey and periodically ask for your input on important issues. Creating an account is optional and is NOT REQUIRED to complete the survey. Email addresses are not sold or shared with other parties for any reason, ever; not even our own staff and elected officials have access to this information.
